Weymouth Parkrun Guide

Weymouth parkrun takes place at 9 am on Saturdays. It has a summer and a winter course. In winter, it is run along the Esplanade, starting opposite the Lodmore Pub. While in summer it moves to nearby Lodmore Country Park. We ran the Lodmore Country Park route, but the events are close together and details for both is included below.

Getting There

Both courses can be accessed via the coast road (B3155), which is around 3 miles off the main road to Weymouth (A354). The courses are around 1.5 miles from central Weymouth and Weymouth Station. Buses no 2, 4 and 10 stop within a few minutes’ walk of the start.

Parking

Parking is available at Lodmore Car Park, right next to the start. We stayed at the Premier Inn which offers free car parking. Otherwise, parking costs £1 per hour. It’s basically the same car park.

Shoes

Winter – trainers.

Summer – I wore trail shoes, but as I mentioned above, we ran the summer course in the winter when it was rather muddy. The summer course in the summer might be better run in trainers.

Difficulty

Run Britain rankings for UK parkruns places Weymouth as 193rd fastest out of 706. The summer course has a total elevation of 19 metres and the winter course has a total elevation of 16 metres.

Fun Factor

We had a lovely weekend in Weymouth. Either course provides a lovely scenic run whether it’s round a country park or beside the seaside.

Where We Stayed

We stayed at the Premier Inn Weymouth Seafront, which is pretty much on the start line.

Nearby Attractions

I love the resort town of Weymouth. Apart from its beautiful beach, it also has a pier, a fort, gardens and all manner of entertainment.
