101 Things to do in Bournemouth with Babies and Toddlers – Littledown Family Fun Day

Littledown Family Fun Day is a free community day, which takes place annually in late July at Littledown Park in Bournemouth. The event, which is organised by BH Live Active in partnership with BCP Council, features a wide range of entertainment, from walking dinosaurs to virtual reality sessions. Activities take place outside within the 47 acres of parkland and inside the leisure centre.

How to get to Littledown Family Fun Day

The park is just off the A338, opposite Bournemouth Hospital.

By Bus

Bus No 22 stop at Littledown Centre, just in front of the park. There are plenty of other bus options including m1, 81, 82 and X3 which stop across the road from the park at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

Access

The park is flat and has paved paths.

Parking

There is a car park on site, where parking is free for 3 hours. However, the fun day is popular, so finding a space (or even accessing the car park) may be difficult.

Opening Times

The event takes place annually on a Sunday in late July.

  • In 2026, the date was Sunday 26th July from 11 am until 4 pm.
  • 2027 details are yet to be announced.

Price

The event is free to attend. Some activities are free to participate in, however there are charges for other activities.

Suitable for age

This a range of activities aimed at children of all ages, plus a bar and live music for adults to enjoy.

Main Stage

A full and varied programme of entertainment is offered on the main stage including gymnastics, Dreygo the rather bedraggled dragon and Minky Moo’s KPop Demon Hunters.

Main Field

On the main field, you can find a funfair, arts & crafts, VR sessions, fossil digging and a silent disco.

Meanwhile, walking around are a variety of characters including Spiderman, giant transformers and fairies on stilts. Orla was not convinced!

Kids Zone

Activities in the Kids Zone include circus skills and a magic show. Plus face painting, glitter tattoos and balloon modelling.

Elsewhere

Other activities range from team sports and zorb football on the sport pitches to a mermaid in the paddling pool. Children can also enjoy the park’s regular activites, including the playground and miniature railway.

Leisure Centre

Inside the leisure centre are stalls selling all sorts of merchandise, from sourdough to earrings. Plus a bubble show and a bug display.

Note: Some attractions, such as inflatables, zorbs and birds of prey were cancelled due to the wind. While others were moved from the position shown on the map to inside the leisure centre.

Food & Drink

The leisure centre has an indoor cafe; The Terrace plus an outdoor cafe called Lookout. There are snack kiosks in the park. Food trucks are also in attendance, including ice cream vans – much appreciated on a hot day!

Toilets/Changing Facilities

There are outside toilets next to the playground and more inside the leisure centre. Plus some additional portaloos in the park itself.
