Lollipops Cafe is a soft play area with cafe right in the centre of the Bournemouth suburb of Westbourne.

How to get to Lollipops Cafe

Westbourne is a mile west of Bournemouth along the A338 or Poole Road.

By Bus

Several buses, including the m1 and m2, stop at The Westbourne, just opposite the cafe.

Access

The cafe is inside a former church, the front of which is a Tesco convenience store. The entry to Lollipops is to the side of the building in Landseer Road.

Parking

Landseer Road Car Park is opposite the entrance to Lollipops. Parking costs £3.30 for two hours. Further details can be found here. Alternatively, there is free roadside parking in nearby Grosvenor Road, although this is restricted to a maximum of 2 hours.

Opening Times

The cafe is open to the public between Monday and Friday from 9 am until 3 pm. It can be hired for private parties at evenings and weekends.

• 7–11 months: £4.50
• 1–7 years: £5.50
• Adults and children over 7: Free

Suitable for age

The soft play is suitable for children up to 7 years old. There are also two separate areas for younger children. Older children are welcome, but cannot use the soft play.

Soft Play Frame

As the venue is a converted church, the building has a higher roof than many other soft plays, which lends itself to a three storey soft play frame, with plenty of scope for climbing and sliding etc.

Climbing Walls

In addition, there is a room with climbing walls. Here, Orla’s favourite thing was rolling a giant monkey ball down a ramp and trying to knock people over!

Younger Children

There is a dedicated play area for babies under 18 months and a second area for children under 3.5 years. These feature a ball pit, soft blocks, a tunnel and a slide. Plus plenty of flashing and laser lights. One month old Henry was absolutely mesmerised by the lights.

Outdoor Area

There is also a small outside area with a wendy house and a few other toys. This area is set up for water play during hot weather.

And if children want some quiet time, one wall is lined with book racks.

For adults, there is plenty of seating, including several very comfortable sofas.

Events

Regular events include:

• Little Tots for under twos on Tuesday mornings
• Groovy Tots for would be ravers on Friday mornings
• Water Tots which run during hot weather
• Regular character Meet & Greets

Lollipops also run themed events throughout the year, such as a Halloween Monster ball and a Christmas tea with Santa. Check their Facebook page for up to an up to date programme.

Food & Drink

The cafe serves hot and cold drinks, plus a range of sandwiches, savoury and sweet snacks. These can be eaten separately, or be like Orla who enjoyed her cheesy wotsit/chocolate muffin combo.

Toilets/Changing Facilities

There are toilets and a baby changing area just off the main room. Note: The lock on one of the toilets is quite tight. While we were there, a child managed to lock themselves in the toilet and couldn’t get out. The other toilet lock has been removed, so is a safer option for children.
